With an illustrious career spanning decades and a profound dedication to the development of referees, Eddy will play a pivotal role in advancing the organization's educational initiatives.
Eddy brings a wealth of experience to his new position. His journey began on the soccer fields of Connecticut as a youth referee, and he quickly ascended through the ranks—becoming a National Referee and earning a distinguished role with the USL D3 Pro League. His tenure with Major League Soccer began in 1997, where he officiated over 140 regular-season and playoff games, including the MLS Cup 2002 between the New England Revolution and Los Angeles Galaxy.
Following his retirement from professional officiating in 2006, Eddy shifted his focus to giving back to the soccer community. His contributions as a National Assessor, Instructor and later as a PRO Assessor and Assistant Referee Coach with the Professional Referee Organization underscore his commitment to the sport. Most recently, he served as the Director of Referee Development with the United States Soccer Federation, where he was instrumental in creating educational content and driving the technical aspects of the referee program.
In his new role at Officials Management Group, Eddy will be in charge of coordinating and developing continuing education with other referee coaches. His efforts will be crucial in enhancing the training and support available to referees across the country, which we are excited to provide.
“We look forward to Rick’s contributions to OMG. His extensive background and passion for referee development make him a perfect fit for this role,” said Richard Triche, Owner of Officials Management Group. “We are excited to leverage his expertise to elevate our educational programs and support our referees in reaching their full potential.”
Eddy expressed his enthusiasm for joining the Officials Management Group, stating, “I look forward to this new opportunity to continue to serve the referee community by helping officials reach their potential and fulfill their goals.”
